International Federation of Surveyors (FIG)
The International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) is a non-governmental organization that was established to support international collaboration for the progress of geodesy in all fields and applications by means of exchange of scientific and technical expertise, ideas and achieved results.
FIG was founded in 1878 in Paris by the first International Congress of Surveyors. FIG is a federation of multiple national geodetic associations. It is the only international organization covering all aspects of geodesy.
Since 1977, the Federal Agency for Geodesy and Cartography has been a member of FIG. Since 2009, Rosreestr has been representing the Russian Federation's interests as the successor of the Federal Agency for Geodesy and Cartography (according to Decree No. 1190-r of the Government of the Russian Federation dated August 19, 2009).
